Pirelli Gravel H: fast on asphalt and compact gravel

Fuente: Cycling Weekly. Pirelli has renewed its gravel range with the Cinturato SmartEVO GR Gravel H, a tire designed for compact and dry terrain that also performs well on asphalt. According to the test, it stands out as an all-road option for those who mix road and fast tracks, with good rolling, even grip and several available sizes, although its price is higher than that of similar rivals.

The new High Performance line is manufactured in Italy, at the Milan-Bollate plant, and incorporates FSC-certified natural rubber. Compared with the previous version, Pirelli claims improvements of 20% in puncture resistance and 10% less rolling resistance. The tread keeps a low, directional knob pattern, designed for hard ground, and adds SmartEVO GRcompound, a 120 TPI casing and a new sidewall reinforcement.

On the move, the review highlights that it performs especially well on compact gravel, crushed-stone paths and smooth asphalt. It is not the best choice for mud or very broken tracks, and it is also noted that mounting it in tubeless version can be somewhat complicated.

In the comparison, it comes out above tires such as the Specialized Pathfinder TLR, the Schwalbe G-One RS PRO, the Hutchinson Caracal Race and the Vittoria Terreno T30, although with use more focused on fast and compact surfaces.
